ACWA Power, a global leader in renewable energy and the world’s largest private water desalination company, has signed new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth USD 500 million with leading US companies.
The agreements were formalised during the Saudi–US Investment Forum in Riyadh, held alongside the official visit of US President Donald Trump to the Kingdom. These new partnerships build upon ACWA Power’s existing collaborations with American firms, raising the total value of engagements to over USD 6 billion.
The new MoUs mark a significant boost to the US-Saudi strategic energy alliance and align directly with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. They are designed to drive forward innovation, economic diversification, and sustainability, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2060.
ACWA Power Vice Chairman and Managing Director Raad Al Saady emphasised that these partnerships are a direct investment in the future of Saudi Arabia, enabling the nation to leverage American expertise to advance renewable energy deployment while creating jobs and localizing manufacturing capabilities.
ACWA Power’s CEO Marco Arcelli said that such value-driven partnerships are at the heart of the company’s expansion strategy. As ACWA Power continues to diversify its energy portfolio and explore new markets, collaboration with firms offering cutting-edge technologies is key to reaching its net-zero target by 2050.
Under these agreements, ACWA Power will expand its role in solar energy by integrating advanced tracker technologies in its photovoltaic projects to reduce energy costs and boost domestic production. The company is also partnering with GE Vernova to implement innovations in gas turbine and electricity transmission systems. A separate MoU with Baker Hughes focuses on developing new technologies for green hydrogen production, including advanced electrolysis solutions and localized manufacturing to support a homegrown hydrogen ecosystem.
In collaboration with KBR, ACWA Power plans to utilise their ammonia technology and engineering services for large-scale hydrogen and ammonia projects, with a focus on programme management and operational excellence. Additionally, a research partnership with Energy Recovery will explore new avenues to enhance the energy efficiency of seawater desalination plants through advanced pressure exchanger (PX) technology.
These agreements reaffirm ACWA Power’s strong track record of working with leading American companies and institutions. From equity investments with EIG and Air Products to long-term technology partnerships with Nextracker, DuPont, and others, ACWA Power continues to build a robust foundation of innovation and international collaboration to support Saudi Arabia’s sustainable energy future.
