Abunayyan Holding and US.-based solar technology firm, Nextracker have announced the formation of Nextracker Arabia, a joint venture aimed at accelerating solar deployment across Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Headquartered in Riyadh, Nextracker Arabia will leverage Abunayyan’s 75-year legacy in water and energy infrastructure and Nextracker’s global leadership in solar power plant technologies, advanced trackers, and yield management systems. The venture will oversee sales, engineering, and operations, and will assume ownership of Nextracker’s existing Saudi manufacturing facility. The facility will support production and distribution of integrated solar technologies for utility-scale and distributed generation projects across the region.
Turki Al-Amri, CEO of Abunayyan Holding, said, “Nextracker Arabia will represent a powerful platform built on shared values of sustainability and innovation. Together, we aim to deliver highly efficient, cost-effective solar energy at scale to support long-term social and economic growth in Saudi Arabia and the region.”
Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker, added, “Partnering with Abunayyan Holding allows us to build a strong local supply chain, bringing production closer to customers while ensuring high performance and reliability. We are proud to invest in Saudi Arabia’s clean energy future and support the Kingdom’s leadership in the regional energy transition.”
The joint venture aligns with Saudi Arabia’s goal of deploying 130 GW of clean energy by 2030, with solar playing a pivotal role. The MENA region is emerging as a global solar hub, with installed capacity reaching 24 GWac in 2024, a 25 percent increase from the previous year, and expected to surpass 30 GW by year-end. The Middle East Solar Industry Association projects MENA’s solar capacity could exceed 180 GW by 2030.
Earlier, Nextracker has also particiapted in Saudi Arabia’s first utility-scale solar project, the 405 MW Sakaka Solar Park, and more than 3 GW of solar projects in the Kingdom, including the Al Kahfah (1.17 GW), Tabarjal (449 MW), and Sudair (904 MW) projects.
Turki Al-Amri is expected to serve as chairman and CEO of Nextracker Arabia, with Rajeev Kashyap, senior vice president and general manager for Nextracker MEIA, taking the role of COO. The venture is expected to officially launch in the first quarter of 2026, following the formation of Saudi legal entities and completion of other closing conditions.
