ABB has implemented advanced power distribution and water management automation systems at Noida International Airport, which is set to begin operations in April 2026. The airport, India’s largest greenfield aviation project, is designed to handle 12 million passengers annually in its first phase and eventually expand to 70 million passengers.
The company has supplied its 33 kV ZX2 gas insulated switchgear, low-voltage panels and distribution boards to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply for critical airport systems, including baggage handling, lighting, ventilation, emergency power and passenger movement infrastructure.
For water and wastewater management, ABB has deployed AC500 PLC- and SCADA-based automation systems to enable remote monitoring, leak detection, quality control and real-time water management. The systems are expected to help the airport reduce freshwater consumption, recycle water and improve drinking water availability.
According to Kiran Dutt, the solution has been designed to support the airport’s long-term expansion plans while improving operational efficiency and minimising downtime risks. “To handle millions of passengers every year, Noida International Airport needed an intelligent, robust and reliable power infrastructure and an advanced water and wastewater management system. ABB’s solution is scalable to support Noida’s future growth plans and is a showcase for efficient power and water management for airports across India and beyond”, said Kiran Dutt.
