India to Add 70 GW Power Capacity in FY27, Responsible AI Adoption Critical

India is likely to add over 70 GW of power generation capacity in FY27, while the government is emphasising responsible AI adoption, AI solutions tailored to India’s power sector and the growing electricity needs of data centres. The CEA launched three initiatives covering cross-border power trade, transmission planning and distribution digitalisation.

India Adds 3.69 GW RE Capacity in September 2026, Total Addition in FY27 Reaches 24.56 GW

India has added 3,692.16 MW of solar and wind capacity in September 2026, comprising 3,011.41 MW of solar and 680.75 MW of wind power, according to MNRE data. In FY27, the country added 24.56 GW, including 20.79 GW of solar and 3.11 GW of wind capacity. India’s total installed RE capacity has reached about 299.25 GW.
