7th ENERTIA Awards 2013 - India’s award for sustainable energy & power

“ENERTIA Awards” attract “India’s Topmost Power and Energy Companies” and are benchmark awards for Excellence in the Sector. These Awards are given to both Public and Private Sector Enterprises in the Power and Energy Sector. Special focus is on key areas like SuperCritical Thermal Power, Hydropower, Solar Energy, Wind Energy, De-Centralized and Distributed Power, T&D, Utility & Smart Grid etc.

Overall 30 Awards have been adjudicated by an Eminent Jury Panel under the Chairmanship of Prof. A. G. Iyer, Editor-in-Chief & Publisher, ENERTIA journal, President-ENERTIA Foundation and President, Renewable Energy Promotion Association, REPA and Co-Chaired by  K. Ravi Kumar, Former Chairman & MD, BHEL. 

“Gujarat State” won for the 6th consecutive time, Award for being “India’s Top Investment & Infra Excellent State for Energy & Power”.

“Dakshin Gujarat Vij Co. Ltd. (DGVCL)”, India’s Public Sector State Utility in the South Gujarat region, received Honours for being “India’s Best Utility-State Sector” for the 3rd consecutive time.

“Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd. (SSNNL), won the Award for Power Generation - “Hydro Power Sector” also for the 3rd time. The project is the only one of its kind in India and Asia with Power Generation from a River-bed large storage dam powerhouse, augmented with the Canal-head Power and a Pilot 1-MW Canal-Top Mini-Solar Power Plant, that while generating power also conserves water by preventing evaporative loss. “The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST Undertaking)” & “Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited (CESC LTD.)”, Won jointly the “Utilities and T&D Award” for “Best Performing Utility-Urban”.

“Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) & “Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd. (RREC)”, Won jointly the Award for being “Best National Nodal Agency for Renewable Energy”.

“Life-time Achievement Award” was Won by “Yogendra Prasad”, Former Chairman & MD, NHPC Ltd. and former VP, IHA (International Hydropower Association) and Former President (Indian National Hydropower Association)”.  Yogendra Prasad is credited for the capacity build-up of 22,000MW of Hydropower projects spread across the North and the North-Eastern regions of India, Leading to the evolution of the ‘50,000MW Hydropower Initiative’ under the then PM of India Atal Behari Vajpayee. That he was instrumental in formation of NHDC a JV between NHPC, Gov of India and Gov of Madhya Pradesh, that resulted in greater Hydropower forays across Central India like the Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar HEPs.
