The stage is set for the Sixth Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 2 in New Delhi, India.

This pivotal event, presided over by R.K. Singh, the Minister for Power, New, and Renewable Energy for the Government of India and President of the ISA Assembly, is poised to accelerate the widespread utilisation of solar energy among its 116 member and signatory countries.

The upcoming Sixth Assembly will focus on universalising energy access through solar mini-grids, facilitating financial support for rapid solar deployment, and diversifying supply chains and solar manufacturing.

The International Solar Alliance is a global organisation dedicated to partnering with governments to enhance energy access, security, and sustainability in member nations while combating climate change through solar power promotion.

Its ambitious goal is to mobilise UDS 1 trillion in solar energy investments by 2030, installing 1,000 GW of solar capacity and providing energy access to 1 billion people. The ISA promotes the use of solar energy in agriculture, healthcare, transportation, and power generation sectors.

The Assembly serves as the apex decision-making body of the ISA and is the forum where each member country's interests are represented.

Minister R.K. Singh emphasised the ISA's commitment to supporting member countries with programmatic assistance, capacity-building initiatives, regulatory guidance, and insight. During his address at the Assembly's curtain-raiser event, he stressed the importance of decentralised solutions, green hydrogen promotion, and supply chain diversification, aligning with the G20 Presidency's goals.

Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General of the ISA, highlighted the critical role of solar energy in tripling renewable capacity by 2030, as emphasised by COP28. He called for a substantial increase in clean energy investment, particularly in developing economies, and underscored the importance of international collaborations.

The Assembly, convened annually at the ministerial level, assesses the impact of ISA programs, deployment of solar energy, reliability, costs, and financing. India currently holds the ISA Assembly's presidency, with France as the co-president.

Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, emphasised the ISA's mission to facilitate global energy transition, national energy security, and local energy access.

As part of the Assembly, the ISA Secretariat will host a high-level conference on new clean energy technologies in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, the Asian Development Bank, and the International Solar Energy Society.

Additionally, ISA will release three flagship reports, providing updates on solar technology, market trends, and investments in solar energy.
