Siemens Gamesa Files License for Offshore Wind Factory In France

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA has announced that it has filed a building license for an offshore wind turbine production facility in Le Havre, France.
Filippo Cimitan, Managing Director, Siemens Gamesa in France believed that the license was filed on February 15. At the same time, the major of Le Havre, Luc Lemonnier, remarked that the state and local authorities are still deliberating the financing plan for the project.
It has been projected that a total of EUR 140 million (USD 159m) of funds are required and about EUR 23 million of that has not yet been secured.

A year ago, the company alleged it will be supplying 189 units of its 8-MW direct-drive turbine in France for the Saint Brieuc, Dieppe-Le Treport and Yeu-Noirmoutier offshore wind projects, each of 500 MW, as well as the floating 24-MW Provence Grand large project.
