9th Arab Renewable Energy Congress Focusses on RE Expansion
The 9th Arab Renewable Energy Congress in Amman will unite participants from 13 countries to discuss advancements in renewable energy, green education, and initiatives fostering innovation, aiming to drive sustainable energy practices across the Arab.

With the aim to promote renewable energy and green education across the Arab world, the 9th edition of Arab Renewable Energy Congress, organised by Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) , is scheduled to take place from 23 Sep. to 25 Sep. in Amman, Jordan.
The event is reported to have participants from 13 countries to discuss significant advancements in the renewable energy sector. The event is held under the patronage of Princess Saana Assem, Chairperson of the Wisdom Council of the AREC. The forum's key topics on the agenda include incentives for electric vehicles, the development of green hydrogen, and the integration of technical and vocational green education into national curricula. Participants will also examine the potential for international electrical connectivity, as Arab nations seek to enhance their renewable energy infrastructure.
The Arab Renewable Energy Commission has emphasised the importance of a comprehensive strategy that aligns education with the labor market, particularly highlighting the need for skills in technical, vocational, and educational areas. Jordan, recognised as a regional leader in these initiatives, is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the discussions.
In addition, the forum will launch several initiatives designed to stimulate creativity and innovation among students. These initiatives include the Arab Solar Car Race, in collaboration with the American Solar Challenge, and the Solar Boat Race, organised with the International Solar Boat Organisation based in the Netherlands. Such competitions aim to engage school and university students in sustainable technology development.
Mohammad Al-Taani, Secretary-General of the Arab Renewable Energy Commission, noted that Arab investments in renewable energy are anticipated to exceed USD 1 trillion by 2040. He highlighted Jordan's strategic geographic location as a critical link between the Arab region, Europe, and Africa, which will aid in advancing international electrical connectivity projects.
The Congress is expected to chart a new roadmap for sustainable energy practices in the Arab world, promoting innovation and collaboration throughout the region.
As per AREC's portal, its mission is to encourage the use of renewable energy in the Arab world, raise awareness, and stimulate investments. This will bring positive revenues to the Arab countries.
