PM Surya Ghar Scheme Crosses 26 Lakh Rooftop Solar Installations, Reaches 9.56 GW Capacity

India has installed over 26.21 lakh rooftop solar systems aggregating 9.56 GW under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana since February 2024, benefiting 32.4 lakh households as of March 20, 2026, the Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik, informed the Lok Sabha.

Rooftop Solar Installations under PM Surya Ghar Yojana Crosses 15 Lakh

As per Ministry of New and Renewable Energy data, a total of 15.45 lakh households have benefitted through the installation of rooftop solar plants under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Gujarat leads the adoption with 5,23,615 installations, followed by Maharashtra (3,71,954) and Uttar Pradesh (1,64,646).

PM Surya Ghar Yojana Hits 10 Lakh Installations: Here’s How Individual States Have Performed

As per Ministry of New and Renewable Energy data, a total of 10.09 lakh households have benefitted through the installation of rooftop solar plants under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Gujarat leads the adoption with 3,95,490 installations, followed by Maharashtra (2,36,339) and Uttar Pradesh (94,097). Total installed capacity has crossed 3 GW.
