APERC Clears Path for Behind-the-Meter Rooftop Solar with Zero Grid Injection
The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has clarified that behind-the-meter Solar Rooftop Photovoltaic captive plants require no prior DISCOM approval and attract no cross-subsidy or additional surcharge, while consumers must provide prior intimation, ensure zero grid injection, and pay applicable standard tariff charges.

Behind-the-Meter Govt Captive Projects Commissioned Before June 1, 2026 Exempted from ALMM for Cells
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has clarified that behind-the-meter solar projects for captive use by government entities or PSUs must use ALMM-listed modules but are exempt from using ALMM-listed cells if commissioned before June 1, 2026; post that date, both ALMM-listed modules and cells will be mandatory.
