Current Work Goals and Achievements: Mr Sunil is currently heading Sungrow’s India business to provide strategic di- rection to the team for growth of photo- voltaic (PV) Inverter and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Business in both large scale and distributed solar in India and nearby countries. Under his directions, Sungrow has recently crossed 5 GW PV inverter shipments while penetrating to all segments and expanding across geographies in India. Sungrow has now consolidated its position in India by of- fering the latest innovative products for the market while ensuring the customer satisfaction. Industry Outlook: The Indian market is considered to be one of the world’s most compelling so- lar hubs. The Government’s ambition of reaching 450 GW of renewable energy installations by 2030 leads to a more decarbonized environment. Further with more renewable energy in the overall energy mix, Energy Storage will become very much essential and needs to be part of the integrated system. In the recently concluded 2 GW tender, India saw one of the lowest Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) of Rs 2.36/ kWh breaching the earlier tariff of Rs 2.44/ kWh. So far, more than 20 GW capac- ity of solar projects have been allotted and are under various stages of execu- tion, as per one of the market research firm’s data. Though, with the impact of COVID-19, the project execution and order closures in the solar industry are delayed by few months, solar in India has a long road ahead. With our latest products available in both Central and String inverter categories for India mar- ket along with dedicated and highly re- liable local service team, our customers can greatly benefit to achieve such a competitive tariff as well as high return on investment (ROI). Sungrow has more than 1,000 deploy- ments of its integrated Energy storage solutions across the world. So, we are also keenly observing the upcoming large-scale tenders with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), in India to pro- vide our customized and efficient bat - tery storage solutions, as per customer’s requirement. The Government is now taking more measures to promote local manufactur- ing for renewable energy industry under ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ program. Sun- grow with its 3 GW factory in India, has been supplying locally manufactured products for more than 2 years. Hence, we are well poised to support our cus- tomers as required in the future to create more value for them. Sunil Badesra Business Head, Sungrow (India) Pvt. Ltd. energetica INDIA- July-Aug_2020 57
