EDITORIAL Dear Energetica India Readers, We welcome you to June 2020 edition of Energetica India. India is setting new records in solar tar- iff. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has recently seen a historic low winning tariff of Rs 2.36 per kilowatt hour (kWh) from SolarPack, a Spanish devel- oper, for its 2 gigawatt (GW) interstate transmission system (ISTS) solar PV proj- ect. It does seem that zero safeguard duty for developers, access to low-cost debt and a pass-through from basic cus- tom duty under ‘change in law’ provision could be the reason for the new low in solar tariffs. Meanwhile, India is working towards International Solar Alliance’ (ISA) play- book of setting up a World Solar Bank (WSB), with India as the lead member taking 30% stake in the bank.
