12 energetica INDIA- March-April_2020 India’s Renewable Energy Generation Capacity Has Developed 72 Percent in 6 Years: Power Minister The installed capacity of renewable energy generation in the country has developed 72 per cent from 80 giga- watt (GW) to 138.9 GW during the past six years, as per new and renewable energy minister R K Singh. He also further that the foreign direct investments of $6.1 billion sailed into the Indian clean energy sector com- prising solar, wind, biomass, large hy- dro and nuclear in the five-year period 2014-19. “Globally, India stands third in terms of renewable power, fourth in terms of wind power, and fifth in terms of solar power installed capacity. For the period 2014-2019, clean energy investments in India were about $75 billion,” Singh said in a written reply in Parliament. Of the renewable energy sources, with- out large hydro above 25 MW, installed capacity of solar energy capacity re- corded the highest growth. It matured from 2.6 GW in March 2014 to 34.4 GW in February this year. As part of its Intended Nationally Deter- mined Contributions, as per the Paris Climate Agreement, India has commit- ted to install around 40 per cent of its power generation capacity based on non-fossil fuel resources by 2030. Singh also said an additional 62.4 GW clean energy capacity is presently un- der different stages of implementation and 34.07 GW is under various stages of bidding. Most of the clean energy projects, ex- cluding nuclear power and some large hydro, are set-up in the country by the private sector. Sungrow & Avaada Energy Inks Strategic Coop- eration Agreement worth 650 MW Sungrow has announced that it has signed a 650 MW strategic agreement with Avaada Energy to supply 1500V inverter solutions for its upcoming PV projects in 2020, demonstrating the Company’s continued efforts on mini- mize LCOE for solar projects in India. Sungrow will provide its 1500V 3.125 MW central inverter solution for the up- coming PV projects under this agree- ment. Developed for large-scale 1500V flat ground plants, the solution features a high DC/AC ratio of over 1.4 and the flexible 6.25 MW or 12.5 MW block de - sign, which can minimize the system cost and be widely utilized in India. Notably, as one of the key players of 1500V technology, Sungrow has over 10 GW of 1500V inverter solutions in- stalled across the globe. “We value Sungrow’s proven per- formance record worldwide and are delighted to partner with Sungrow to supply numerous landmark projects in India.
