EMERGING INNOVATORS I think it’s one of the best times to be starting a company in India as India is in a transition phase moving from ana- log to digital age, fossil fuel to renewable age, carbon-intensive to carbon-neutral age. I think that a government sufficiently acknowledges that and has been undertaking a lot of initiatives to uplift the startup community in India. But I think that the government must do a better job of communicating their startup policies and initiatives to those who need them the most. In an exclusive interaction series with startup companies in the energy and mobility space, Manu Tayal , Associate Editor, Energetica India, interacted with Sachin Sengar , Founder & CEO of Lowsoot. Here’re the edited excerpts from that interaction: 22 energetica INDIA- Oct-Nov_2021 Q. Tell Energetica India readers in brief about Lowsoot including its vi- sion? Sachin Sengar: Lowsoot is a Banga- lore-based Startup that aims to reverse climate change by helping businesses and individuals calculate and offset their footprint by funding/donating to green initiatives. In the last 50 days, more than 15,000 people have calculated their carbon footprint on our platform. Q. How do you help companies in re- ducing their carbon footprints? Sachin Sengar: We can explain it in three steps: Audit: We first calculate the carbon foot - print of a company with the help of our research team that does a very thorough analysis of all aspects of any business. Reduce: After having a close look at the operations of any company, we identify low-hanging fixes that can lead to the maximum reduction in CO 2 emissions. Erase: Once we have reduced the CO 2 emissions as much as possible, the re- maining CO 2 emissions can be offset via our verified green projects. Q. Who are your target customers and industries? Sachin Sengar: Our target customers are all heavy industries that have oper- ation-intensive businesses and heavily rely on logistics. We are actively working with logistics, oil, and petroleum, hos- pitality, and manufacturing companies. We also enable file net individuals who are climate-conscious to invest their money in green initiatives for a better tomorrow. Q. Shed some light on your experi- ences across sectors, and how the idea of forming Lowsoot came into existence? Sachin Sengar: I am a traveler and I love nature.
