SOLAR POWER Agile 1P adopts the 1P Dual Row design with four key technology advantages: higher reliability, greater power genera- tion, optimized BOS (balance of solar PV system) and enhanced adaptability. Higher reliability The new Agile 1P tracker can achieve optimal adaptability and reliability in compatibility with 600W+ ultra-high power modules. Andrew Gilhooly, head of Trina Solar tracker solutions in the Asia Pacific, said that CPP, a world-renowned authoritative wind tunnel test organiza- tion, put the Agile 1P tracker through a set of comprehensive wind tunnel tests including dynamic and static as well as full aeroelastic, simulating operation un- der all in service conditions. Throughout the course of these tests, TrinaTracker continually optimised the tracker de- sign to ensure all the components of the tracker system were unequivocally struc- turally sound and well proven for higher reliability and enhanced adaptability. TrinaTracker’s patented spherical bear - ing, angle adjustability up to 30% Agile 1P leverages the innovative multi- drive (dual-slewing) system and exclu- sively worldwide patented spherical bearing to improve the overall stability of tracker system, effectively reducing the system aeroelastic effect, improving load transmission efficiency, avoiding rotation error and enhancing the over- all structure. The spherical bearing can minimize the structure stress and de- formation and further improve reliability and adaptability in complex terrains. In addition, Agile 1P is equipped with a sophisticated stow strategy, preventing the tracker from structural failure in gusty wind and strengthening system reliabili- ty. Furthermore, the dual row configuration reduces the number of critical compo- nents such as motors, tracker control- lers, self-power battery units and so forth on a per MW basis, enhancing the tracker uptime and reducing the costs involved in both preventative and cor- rective maintenance. Greater power generation The Dual-Row design of Agile 1P short- ens the tracker length to only 72 meters, enabling installation of up to 120 mod- ules per tracker, and achieving higher installation capacity under the same layout by 15.6% or conversely, as com- pared to longer competitor single row 1P trackers, Agile can achieve the same installed capacity at a wider pitch to re- duce near shading and boost yield con- siderably The intelligent “SuperTrack” algorithm can increase the Agile 1P’s total power generation by up to 8%. With the cleaning robot effectively eliminat- ing sands and dust on modules, system power generation can be enhanced by more than 10%. Optimized BOS The amount of Agile 1P trackers (and associated components such as motors, controllers, batteries and so forth) is re- duced by 33%, compared with conven- tional single-row 1P trackers in a typical 1MW layout, saving 9% in DC cabling. The spherical bearing of TrinaTracker features the self-alignment with an angle adjustability of 30%, which can correct the installation deviation and reduce fail- ure rate as well as operation and mainte- nance costs. Furthermore, an innovative upgrade to the installation process that integrates the patented Trina-Clamp re- duces module installation time by 50%. Furthermore, TrinaTracker’s proprietary TrinaCloud SCADA system will boost the effective operating time under different weather conditions, enable effective di- agnostics of real-time tracker problems, reducing the maintenance costs and in- creasing solar farm operational efficien - cy. Enhanced adaptability Driven by module development trend, TrinaTracker employed a comprehen- sive and integrated approach when designing new tracker products, Based on the updated dimensions, weight and electrical characteristics of modules, TrinaTracker has made corresponding adjustments for structural reinforcement and innovative improvement for optimal tracker design, ensuring all products’ impeccable compatibility with the latest modules in the market. ShunweiDuan, Trina Solar’s head of global tracker business unit noted, “Cur- rently, the tracker industry’s primary fo- cuses are wind engineering and struc- tural enhancement, but we also need to consider the software development such as intelligent tracking algorithms and SCADA system. By embracing the full compliance of well-established industry standards, state-of-the-art technology, as well as upstream and downstream integration, Trina Solar will enhance the tracker’s value, and facilitate the con- tinuing growth of the global tracker mar- ket.” 51 energetica INDIA- May-June_2021
