TP Renewable Microgrid’s First 5kW Bio-Gas Generating Plant Commences Operation in Bihar Tata Power’s renewable microgrid arm, TP Renewable Microgrid (TPRMG) has commenced operation of its first 5kW Bio-gas generating plant at Kamalpura (Basaitha) village in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. The company has constructed this plant in association with Grassroots Energy, and the plant consumes cow dung which is procured from nearby villages and then it is processed through a Bio- digester to generate methane gas. This gas is then used to drive a specially designed 5kW generator to generate electricity which is fed to the adjoining 30kW microgrid generating station. Also, the residue of the Bio-gas plant is processed to create organic manure for farmers. Commenting on the occasion, Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said that, “it is a proud moment for us, we are constructively moving ahead with our agenda to be the foremost Renewable Energy Company of India and continue to support the nation to achieve its green energy goals. We would like to congratulate our team to complete this project in a record team and be able to commence the operation of this plant on National Energy Conservation Day.” “It’s a major achievement for us. We are proud to collaborate with Grassroot Energy for our first Bio-gas plant. With this low-cost energy-efficient technology to produce purified biogas in a cost- effective manner, we will address diverse market segments currently using conventional energy sources. We shall enable them to switch to low-cost Bio- gas powered electricity without lowering their performance,” said, Manoj Gupta, CEO, TP Renewable Microgrid. The company further said that it’s focus now lies on developing and commissioning its Bio CNG plant in rural part of India. NEWS UPDATES 55 energetica INDIA- December_2020 HAPSMobile, APB Collaborate to Develop High Energy Density Storage Batteries Tokyo-headquartered HAPSMobile and APBCorporation(APB)havecollaborated to develop high energy density storage batteries for the High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) stratospheric telecommunications platform being developed by HAPSMobile. APB Corporation was founded in 2018, and its business area includes R&D, production and sales of lithium ion batteries. HAPS platform provides mobile Internet connectivity, such as LTE and 5G, from the stratosphere to areas without Internet access. For its HAPS business, HAPSMobile has been developing the ‘Sunglider’ unmanned aircraft, which is going to be equipped with a large capacity and lightweight storage battery to provide long-term service. All Polymer Battery, the first large-scale bipolar lithium-ion battery module, has been developed jointly by Hideaki Horie, the current CEO of APB, and Sanyo Chemical. All Polymer Battery is characterized by features such as high reliability, high energy density, and innovative manufacturing processes at the same time. These batteries have high flexibility in size and shape of the cells, which will help us to create thicker electrodes and larger cells. By taking advantage of the bipolar structure of All Polymer Battery, both companies will endeavor to eliminate wiring parts necessary for high voltage, increase the ratio of polymer in the components, and adopt next-generation electrode materials that contribute to high energy density with high reliability. HAPSMobile, founded in 2017, is into research, development, operation and management of solar HAPS and network devices; Core network building, management and operation; Acquisition of frequency for solar HAPS; and Business development using solar HAPS.
