Energetica India Magazine -October 2020
EDITORIAL Dear Energetica India Readers, We welcome you to October 2020 edition of Energetica India. The ongoing Corona virus pandemic has slowed down the pace of India’s re- newable energy installation growth sto- ry, although, the motivation of industry stakeholders remained upbeat. Every- one, including industry players and gov- ernment, is eager to diminish the impact of slowdown in the economic activity of the country as soon as possible. How- ever, Wood Mackenzie recently said that Indian photovoltaic (PV) installations will sit at just 4.9 GW in 2020, down 42% on 2019 and the lowest level since 2016. It predicted that Covid-19 cases are con- tinuing to rise in India and social dis- tancing measures are likely to slow in- stallation activity for the rest of the year at the very least, and without policy en- forcement, India’s 100 GW solar target is unlikely to be met.
