INDUSTRY JEWEL: Ripunjay Parikh, Director Sales – Power Distribution, Eaton India
Decentralizing power generation and seamlessly integrating this with the grid, reliably and affordably will be a revolutionary change in the power sector. With this, every building, factory, or establishment can be a potential power producer from a renewable source. Also, with this, the power can be distributed to remote locations without the need for extensive grids/networks.

Industry Outlook:
Energy Transition will be one of the key business drivers in the coming times, for Eaton. India is currently at an interesting transition phase in terms of both power generation and the power distribution stage, with the Government committed to achieving stringent goals for CO2 emission reduction. The reducing dependence on coal/oil-based power and growing usage of renewable power are making the power sector more sustainable. Of the installed generating capacity of 360 GW, currently one fourth is already coming from renewable sources (wind, solar, hydro). And the aim is to generate 175GW of power from renewable sources by 2022, and 500GW by 2030, which means a huge potential for the industry.
Also, the government’s focus on reforms in power transmission and distribution has already shown great results with the losses in T&D reducing from 25% to 21% over the last decade and has further potential for improvement.

With this, every building, factory, or establishment can be a potential power producer from a renewable source. Also, with this, the power can be distributed to remote locations without the need for extensive grids/networks. Through technologies that support bi-directional power generation, storage, and energy management, we’re playing a critical role in helping meet demand growth and balance grid volatility. We are reimagining and rebuilding the electrical power value chain.
Eaton is a global leader in the field of power distribution and controls. We have a strong commitment to bringing sustainable products and solutions to India. Many of these innovations from Eaton are already available to Indian Customers, which raises the standards of sustainability and safety.
Eaton has been investing in the manufacturing of many of the products in India in the state-of-the-art factory at Pondicherry. In 2019 we have started the manufacturing for the 11KV RMU and VCBs and many new products are already in the pipeline to support the energy transition initiatives. This is to ensure the availability of word-class Eaton products, locally at affordable prices.
