WFES Solar is the largest marketplace in the MENA region for Middle East and North Africa’s governments, project developers, technology providers and start-ups to help accelerate innovation adoption and O&M efficiency; and provide partnership, investment & networking opportunities between public and private sectors.Held as part ofthe World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi from January 14th – 17th, WFES Solar is a great platform that connects the largest producers of solar innovation with one of the fastest growing markets in the world.
The impact of human activity and the fossil fuel powered energy installations have on our environment has greatly accelerated the global climate change dialogue. The urgency to minimise and reverse this impact has become major focus of numerous governments and organisations around the world. Eager to take the lead on the fourth industrial revolution, India has committed to produce 40% of its energy via non-fossil fuel sources by 2030, during the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement.
This commitment is evident from India’s rapid adoption to cleaner energy sources, with an aggressive government target of 175 GW installed renewable energy by 2022. Earlier this year, India announced 100GW in solar projectswith strong emphasis on battery storage and domestic solar manufacturing, as part of the continuing efforts.Solar power is changing how the world generates, stores and uses energy. With the decreasing pricing models on large-scale solar projects and the increasing demand for effective and efficient operation and management strategies; there is a growing need for solar project managers to find bankable solar projects. This is an exciting time for the industry not just in India but also MENA, which is seeing continuing price reductions for photovoltaics, rising electricity tariffs, energy market reforms, subsidy adjustments, and a growing demand for desalination and cooling.
According to MESIA’s annual solar outlook report, 2018 is expected to be a massive year for solar transition in the MENA region with over 11.86 GW of photovoltaic solar projects in the pipeline and a projected target of 76 GW by 2020. In addition to the large scale solar projects, there has been a steady growth in the commercial and industrial rooftop projects across the region with Saudi Arabia and UAE expected to take the lead.
WFES Solar 2019 will showcase disruptive technologies and innovations that drive development in renewable energy and regional best practices. The four day event will feature forums, workshops, innovation hubs, expos and thought leadership debates that aim to help the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region achieve energy independence; and the expo will showcase the latest innovations in photovoltaic applications and modules, solar thermal power plants, commercial and utility-scale power plants, stand-alone systems and other solutions and services.
WFES, part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and hosted by Masdaris the world’s largest sustainability gathering that will explore new ideas, exponential technological innovations, infrastructure challenges, industry insights and digital platforms driving the future of sustainability. WFES is a great platform for businesses to forge new partnerships to build successful relationships and help solve global sustainability challenges within the energy, solar, water, mobility and eco-waste sectors.
