Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation (hereinafter, “TMEIC”; President & CEO Masahiko Yamawaki) has newly established a power electronics factory in Tumakuru district near Bengaluru, Karnataka State, in India. The new factory which is expected to be fully operational from October has a floor space of approximately 12000m2 and is built to further reinforce TMEIC’s power electronics business in India.

TMEIC’s business in India is currently operated by its local subsidiary, TMEIC Industrial Systems India Private Limited. TMEIC’s motor factory that was built in February 2016 is already in operation in the same district. The new production facility constructed now is located adjacent to the motor factory.

The new power electronics factory primarily manufactures PV inverters, uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems and high-voltage motor drive systems. TMEIC aims to become a leader in the global market through harnessing its world-class, leading-edge technologies.

While approximately 330 employees are already working at these two factories to manufacture motors and power electronics products, plans are to increase employees to roughly 500 people over the next two years and achieve sales of approximately US$200 million (¥22 billion) at the two factories by 2020.

Additionally, a renewable energy solar power generation system has been installed at the new factory along with utilizing the Company’s PV inverters to internally generate energy required for manufacturing products, thereby realizing a next-generation “energy recycling-based sustainable factory.”

TMEIC will continue to supply products not only for the Indian market but also globally from its large-scale motor and power electronics factories in Tumakuru district.
