The highest situated solar plant in Germany uses Aleo solar modules

Modules from Aleo Solar AG provided above-average yields in 2011 on Germany's tallest mountain, the 2,962 metre-high Zugspitze. The 58 aleo S_18 modules (output class 220 watts) are distributed on a facade and rooftop plant.
The highest photovoltaic plant in Germany has a total output of 12.76 kilowatts. Within a single year, the facade plant’s 36 aleo modules produced 1,283 kilowatt hours per kilowatt peak of nominal output – the German average for rooftop plants, by comparison, is approximately 900 kilowatt hours. Facade plants on flat land generate between 650 and 700 kilowatt hours.

Zugspitze, which lies in the west wind zone, is especially exposed to weather events, since it is the first high obstacle for the west winds and thus shields parts of the Alps to the south. Frost prevails for 310 days a year on average.
“This demonstrates the robustness of our solar modules under extreme conditions, as the salt spray test and ammonia resistance test have done in the past. Our excellent quality of material and workmanship ensures high power yields in the long term, from coastal regions to the high mountains”, says Dr. Jens Sabotke, director of Technology and Development at aleo solar AG.

Authorised aleo solar premium partner Iliotec planned the plant under these challenging conditions and installed within just ten days. Iliotec will integrate the 1-gigawatt module from aleo solar into the photovoltaic plant on Zugspitze on 17 February 2012. In October 2011, the total nominal output produced by aleo solar surpassed the one gigawatt mark. At the same time, aleo solar AG held a two-day technical seminar in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: The premium manufacturer presented its expanded services in the fields of technology, marketing, sales support and training to around 200 customers.

The company
Aleo Solar AG produces and distributes premium solar modules and systems for the international photovoltaic market. Since 2009, the Bosch Group has owned a majority of Aleo Solar AG which was originally founded in 2001 and has been listed on the stock exchange since 2006.
