Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) has facilitated a meeting with Dr. Pradeep Monga, Director, Energy & Climate Change, UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) with CMDs/senior level executives of selected major Power Sector/Energy Sector CPSEs (Central Public Sector Enterprises) here at SCOPE Convention Centre. The meeting was to impress upon the top management of CPSEs the need and urgency to devise ‘strategies for energy conservation and energy management within the organization and also leveraging knowledge and technologies for the benefit of the society through CSR projects/activities’.
The discussion centred around the issues of developing clean energy projects as part of CSR of selected PSEs in India and developing a large umbrella of GEF (Global Environment Facility) projects to be leveraged from GEF funds to be utilized as co-financing under GEF cycle on Energy Efficiency. Possibilities were explored with CPSEs to undertake joint projects with UNIDO in these areas.
