STMicroelectronics Asia Pacific appoints WPI as Regional Distributor

Jump to the comments

STMicroelectronics Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, the Singapore subsidiary of the global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, has announced the appointment of World Peace Industrial (WPI) Group as a regional distributor for the Greater China & South Asia Region. WPI is a Taiwan-based company that has been one of the most aggressively growing players, and as part of WPG Holdings, a leading distributor in Asia and among the top three distributors worldwide.

The electronics industry in Asia Pacific is continuously evolving, with local companies growing rapidly and the strengthening of product design and innovation in diverse locations across the region, particularly within Taiwan and China. This partnership of ST and WPI will provide even stronger support to the local design market.

Francois Guibert, Executive VP & President, Greater China & South Asia Region, STMicroelectronics explained, “With its network of over 30 sales offices and nearly 1,500 employees across Greater China, ASEAN and India, our partnership with WPI will greatly strengthen the reach and availability of our products and solutions to all our existing and potential customers in the region.”

ST’s product portfolio, which is one of the broadest worldwide, provides a great opportunity for smaller volume customers with the mass market to consolidate their purchases and technical relationships with a single strong supplier partner. WPI has an extensive customer base that will benefit from this new partnership.

Mike Chang, Chairman and CEO of WPI Group, shares an equally upbeat view of the partnership, “ST is a leading player in key technologies such as MEMS, smart sensors, digital set-top-box ICs, and other embedded technologies. The inclusion of ST’s broad portfolio will certainly boost the quality and flexibility of solutions we can offer to our diverse customers.”

The two companies have already started working closely on an identified and selected customer base, and expect positive outcomes in the coming months.
