Schneider Electric India wins the Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability 2018

Schneider Electric (SE) has announced that it has been recognized by the Institute of Directors (IoD) for its best-in-class sustainability efforts in India by awarding the Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability 2018. Mr. Mike Hughes, Zone President – SE UK & Ireland; received the award on behalf of SE India in London at the 18th London Global Convention. The award was presented by The Baroness Verma, Chairperson, EU External Affairs Sub-Committee, Government of UK; and Lt. Gen. J. S. Ahluwalia, PVSM (Retd.), President, IOD India.

Speaking on this achievement, an elated Mr. Anil Chaudhry, Schneider Electric India – Zone-President & MD, said: “With sustainability at the heart of everything we do at Schneider Electric, this prestigious award is a testimony of our commitment to work towards reducing the carbon footprint globally. I am extremely proud of our teams for successfully driving sustainability campaigns that augment our brand value thereby motivating all of us to redouble the sustainability efforts, which is one of our core business strategies.”

Over the last six years, at its most energy-intensive facilities, SEI has saved 40% energy costs, equivalent to 18,900 tonnes of avoided CO₂ emissions. Moreover, 88% of wastewater and 95% of solid waste has been recycled in the last two years at these sites. On CSR, SEI has trained 96,000 individuals from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Besides, 26,000 households in 520 villages have been electrified as part of the “Access To Energy” program, and 500 schools enrolled to spread awareness among 50,000 students on energy and environment under the “Conserve My Planet” program.
