Renewable opportunities – Windcareer job fair targets beginners and professionals

Windcareer is being held on 15 September 2017, the last day of HUSUM Wind, in an extra exhibition area. The job fair offers industry professionals, students and beginners the opportunity to get an overview of the employers and an insight into the lines of work that the wind industry offers. Exhibitors include major players like ENERCON, the wind farm developer UKA, engineering and IT service provider Ferchau, Deutsche Windtechnik and Nordex as well as personnel consultancies such as RTS Wind AG, QRC Group AG or Convent Energy. Universities and training institutes are also represented, including the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, the University of Siegen and the West Coast University of Applied Sciences. There is also the lure of over 300 job offers, locally and throughout Germany.

“We cannot achieve energy transition without wind power. If we are to constantly develop pioneering technologies then we need clever and inquisitive minds who like the idea of helping to shape the future of energy – and Husum is where they all come together“, says Peter Becker, managing director of Messe Husum & Congress.

The job fair is accompanied by a full day of lectures in the Congress Centre. Topics include career opportunities and ways into the wind industry, corporate presentations, college courses and skilled occupations. There will also be discussion of the importance of the lack of qualified personnel. Applicants and jobseekers can join guided tours of the fair, where they can discover industry trends, job profiles and fields of work, and establish contacts to potential employers.

“The industry is struggling with a lack of trained personnel. That’s why we believe job and contact exchanges like Windcareer are so important. They provide a good platform for direct and personal exchanges with both young talent and established professionals”, says Marc Altmeyer, head of talent acquisition at ENERCON.

Visitors also have the opportunity to get individual career advice at the fair, have their CV and application folders checked and get application photos. They can also take advantage of the shuttle service to bring them straight to the fair, from several north German towns and cities including Flensburg, Kiel, Heide, Lübeck, Hamburg, Oldenburg and Bremen. The combined offer with return ticket and admission to the fair is available starting at 7 euros.

Windcareer is supported by three cooperation partners: the Schleswig-holstein Centre of Excellence for renewable Energy and Climate Protection, Forwind, which is the joint wind energy research centre of the universities of Oldenburg, Hannover and Bremen, and eejobs.de, the online job exchange for renewable energies.
