As per the Mission Document, manufacturing capacity to tune of 4-5 GW is to be achieved by year 2020

Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has issued an order inviting suggestions from all solar manufacturers and investors in order to make Government of India's "Make In India" mission a success.
As per the Mission Document of National Solar Mission, manufacturing capacity to the tune of 4-5 GW is to be achieved by the year 2020.
This would include dedicated manufacturing capacity for poly silicon to annually make about 2 GW capacity of solar cells. As of now the installed capacity of cells and modules in the country is 1386 MW & 2756 MW respectively.
There is also limited manufacturing capacity of solar tempered glass, EVA/Back sheet, inverter etc.
To further the programme of “Make in India” it is felt necessary to seek suggestions from all Solar Manufacturers (i.e. Cells/Modules/Inverter/Glass/EVA/Back Sheet Manufacturers etc.). This will enable the Ministry to deliberate on the problems being faced by Manufacturers and investors and thereby endeavour to improve the manufacturing environment of the country and make the mission of “Make in India” successful.
MNRE has invited suggestions, which will be solicited by 29th June, 2015.
