JBM Group Forays into Waste to Energy Sector.

JBM Group, India's leading business conglomerate, today forayed into Waste to Energy sector with signing of Concession Agreement with Haryana Government to build and operate a 5 MW power plant in Sonepat that will treat 500 tonnes of municipal waste per day.

The project will be developed by JBM Environment Management Pvt. Ltd. at an investment of Rs 176 crore and will entail door to door collection of waste, its transportation, construction & operation of the power plant. JBM Group has roped in Europe's leading company EKOLOG Ltd., which has more than 30 years' experience in operating integrated waste management systems in Europe and Asia.

The power plant will be spread across 20 acres area in Sonepat for which the land has been allotted by the state government. The project will help dispose of 500 tonnes of solid waste per day generated from Sonepat cluster, which comprises of Sonepat, Panipat, Samalkha and Gannaur.

The concession agreement was signed between JBM Group represented by Mr. Vinay Maheshwari and Directorate of Urban Local Bodies of Haryana by Mr. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi today.

Speaking at the event, Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar said, "The Haryana Government is moving ahead on its objective of being a flag bearer of the Swachh Bharat Mission. We are looking at multiple areas like Waste to Energy, Integrated Solid Waste Management, e-mobility, etc. where we can adopt environment-friendly technologies".

Principal Secretary, Directorate of Urban Local Bodies of Haryana Shri. Anand Mohan Saran said, "Swachh Bharat is our prime focus aiming towards creating a clean and green environment for the local residents and the state at large. This is one of many steps that we have undertaken in the august year of Swarn Jayanti of the Haryana state launched by our Hon'ble Chief Minister".

JBM Group Executive Director Mr. Nishant Arya said, "Our focus has been to ensure sustainable and green environment for the society and country at large, therefore, all new businesses have been around the same whether you look at Electric Buses, Solar Energy and now Waste to Energy. This is just the beginning as scalability of such sustainable initiatives is a must for getting adequate benefits for the future generations".
