Coimbatore looking at being a Solar City

Coimbatore city's Mayor S M Velusamy said the corporation would soon take steps to make Coimbatore a 'solar city' that would utilise solar energy to the maximum. He was speaking at the 30th anniversary of the Bharathiar University.

"Coimbatore will produce a model that can be replicated in other cities," said Velusamy. He also appreciated the university's move to set up a solar plant with a capacity of five mega watts.
