BGR Energy awarded Rs.2,600 Crores BOP contract by TANGEDCO

BGR Energy Systems Limited (“BGR Energy”) has been awarded the Balance of Plant (BoP) Contract from TANGEDCO for 1 x 800 MW North Chennai Thermal Power Project – Stage III. BGR Energy secured this contract in an International competitive bidding which witnessed stiff competition. The value of the contract is Rs.2,600 Crores. The contract completion period is 36 months from the date of award.

The contract is for Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Fabrication, Assembly, Inspection, Testing, Transportation, Erection, Testing and commissioning of the Balance of Plant Mechanical, Electrical and Control & Instrumentation works including associated civil works for establishment of Coal based 1 x 800 MW North Chennai Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage‑III in the premises of existing NCTPS at Ennore & Puzhudhivakkam Village, Thiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu. The salient features of this expansion project includes a large coal handling system with 2 Nos. Shore Unloaders for unloading of coal from the ships. It also features the state-of-the-art 765 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear based substation. The contract provides for foreign exchange and statutory levies variations.

Congratulations to BGR energy systems for bagging this big project which cost 2,600 cores. BGR energy has done very hard work and showed their talents in maintain these types of projects in past has helped them to get this project. This thermal power project is very important one to overcome the electricity crises for Chennai city and its adjoining villages.
