The 3rd World Renewable Energy Technology Congress served as an excellent energy platform for the global renewable energy industry to address various industry issues including innovations, new technologies, investment opportunities and project financing.
Mr. Jaime Nualart, Ambassador, Embassy of Mexico in India delivered the inaugural address and highlighted the importance of promoting renewable energy, green energy for sustainability. During the inaugural ceremony of the congress, Energy and Environment Foundation awarded the prestigious “Energy and Environment Excellence Award-2012” in the Renewable Energy Sector.
Energy and Environment Foundation conferred the Excellence Award to Mr. Deepak Gupta, Former Secretary to the Government of India (MNRE); Dr. Patrick Hofer-Noser, Chief Technology Officer and Deputy CEO Meyer Burger Technology AG and President, Cleantech, Switzerland; Ms. Sunita Kumar, Country Manager, AREVA Solar; Mr. Sunil Jain, Chief Operating Officer, Green Infra Limited; Mr. Satish Sharma, President & CEO-Hydro, Jindal Power Limited and Mr. Simon Hobbs, Director, Honeywell India Technology Center, UOP India Pvt Ltd for their excellent contribution in Renewable Energy Sector.
3rd World Renewable Energy Technology Congress deliberated various issues related to Photovoltaic, Centralized Solar Thermal Power, Decentralized Solar Thermal: Solar Heating & Cooling, Off-Grid Solar and Rural Electrification, Emerging Market in Rooftop, Applied Materials and Energy Storage, Wind Energy, Small Hydro, Bio-Energy and creation of renewable green energy for sustainability. The congress was attended by 237 of national and international delegates from Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and USA. The congress brought together leading international and domestic players, policy makers, government officials and technocrats on a common platform.
A special R2B (Research to Business Session) was sponsored by EBTC and Indo German Chamber of Commerce AHK, was also a new feature of this congress and was also a star attraction to the participants.

The main features of the resolutions adopted in the Congress were:
Government of India needs to encourage Energy Companies to set up Renewable Energy Power Subsidiary Companies.
Government of India may set up a “National Women’s Mission on Renewable Energy” to educate, train and empower women to promote renewable energy.
Energy And Environment Foundation invites the global green renewable energy community to assemble again at New Delhi, India in September 2013 for the 4th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress & Expo-2013.
Shri Deepak Gupta, Former Secretary MNRE, Govt. of India will be the Chairman of Steering Committee of WRETC-2013. Under his guidance the 4th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress & Expo will be held from 25th to 27th September 2013 at New Delhi.
